The primary approaches to immigrate depending on a job offer or employment are listed below:

Green Card Through a Job Offer: You might be eligible to be a permanent resident depending on an offer of permanent employment in America. Most types require employer -140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, for you.

Green cards might be open to investors/entrepreneurs who are making an investment within an enterprise that creates new U.S. occupations.

Green Card Through Self Petition: Some immigrant classes enable you to file for yourself (“self-petition”). This option can be obtained for either “Aliens of Extraordinary Ability” or specific individuals granted a National Interest Waiver.

Green Card Through Special Kinds of Occupations: There are a number of specialized occupations which could let you get a green card predicated on a previous or current occupation, such as:

Afghan/Iraqi Translator
Broadcaster
International Organization Worker
Iraqi Who Assisted the U.S. Government
NATO-6 Nonimmigrant
Panama Canal Employee
Physician National Interest Waiver
Religious Worker
Each of those require a Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, and are described in Section 101(a)(27) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

To learn more, see the “Concurrent Filing” page.

If you are not eligible to correct your standing inside the United States into a permanent resident, the immigrant petition will be sent to the U.S. consulate abroad to finish the visa process. To be able to submit an application for a green card, there has to be a visa immediately available to you.
